[begin bio] I am originally from East Central Minnesota and currently based in Ojai, CA. Meridian (2007) was my first LP and a huge musical catharsis. It reflected themes of discovering Ayahuasca shamanism in Peru, and the disintegration of a relationship. Heartbroke Ascension is a follow-up EP, written in North India and released independently in 2010. One of many B-sides to those sessions is "Lost in 2012" which is published here. It's a pretty good song but won't mean much after this year. Musically I'm starting toward a blog format. Seems to be the way of things these days. My newest release, The Ocean / Meadow Meadow, reflects this and is recorded mostly into a deplorable laptop microphone and laden with effects to try and make it sound better. No pretense, no mastering, no ambition. There's a kind of innocence in that, but it's really only listenable through headphones. Here is the synopsis for my first book, Enlightenment or Bust. I will probably make another web site for my literary work, since blending the two is confusing and pretentious, but for now I mention it here. It is a non-fiction memoir: Wrested from ordinary life by encounters with an Ayahuasca shaman and a mysterious businessman, a skeptical seeker wanders from the low-lying jungles of Peru to the heights of the Himalayas. Purposefully avoiding the well-trodden paths in India, he finds a reclusive old man who initiates him into the mystical tradition of yoga. When his efforts at sexual continence are challenged by a beautiful woman, when the old man dies upright in meditation, and when the mysterious businessman re-surfaces in India, the narrator struggles to find the truth about his journey. A humorous, emotional and fast-paced adventure through places rarely seen by tourists, Enlightenment or Bust invites the reader behind the curtain of a timeless spiritual tradition. So much for that. My film career (I'm just being ridiculous now) includes playing an extra in the Bollywood film Kismit Connection. Also in 2009 I appeared in the Keith Arnowitz documentary Metamorphosis, shot on location with shamans in the Peruvian Amazon. [end bio] Free mp3 downloads >>
